The short version
PDFMagic processes your documents on your device — your files are never uploaded, sold, or shared, and there is no account or sign-in. The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use a device advertising identifier to serve and measure those ads. iOS asks your permission before any identifier is used to personalize ads, you can change it anytime in Settings, and Premium removes all ads.
Your documents
Your files never leave your device. Tools like merge, split, compress, sign, OCR, redaction, translation, and AI summaries run locally on your iPhone. Your documents and their contents are never sent to us or to any third party. AI features use Apple's on-device intelligence — your document text is not sent to us or to any external AI service.
Advertising (free version)
The free version of PDFMagic displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect device identifiers (including the Identifier for Advertisers / IDFA) and advertising/usage data (such as your interactions with ads, coarse region, and device type).
When required, iOS shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt before any identifier is used to personalize ads. If you decline, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized using that identifier. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Premium removes all ads.
What we don't collect
- No account. The app works without signing in.
- No file uploads. Your documents are processed on-device, never on our servers.
- No first-party analytics. We don't run our own analytics SDKs; the only third-party data collection is the AdMob advertising described above.
Device permissions
- Camera — used only to scan documents, on your device. Images become a PDF saved locally. We never access the camera in the background.
- Photos — used only when you choose images to convert, or to save exported images you ask us to save. We access only what you select.
You can change these permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Premium subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment-card details. We store a local, on-device flag indicating whether Premium is active.
Cloud conversion tools (future)
Some conversions that cannot run on-device (for example Office documents to PDF and PDF/A) are planned for a future update. When and if you use those specific tools, the file you choose will be sent over an encrypted connection to our conversion service solely to perform the conversion, and deleted immediately afterward. We will update this policy and clearly label those tools before they ship. No such upload happens for any tool available today.
Data retention & security
We don't store your documents — they stay in the app's storage on your device until you delete them (Settings → Delete all my files, or per-file). Advertising data is handled by Google as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Children
PDFMagic is rated 4+. We configure AdMob to request non-personalized, age-appropriate (G-rated) ad content, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
You can opt out of personalized ads anytime via the iOS Tracking setting, and Premium removes ads entirely. For data held by Google through AdMob, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Changes
We'll update this policy as the app evolves and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes affecting data handling will be highlighted in-app.
